» Περίληψη (Plot):
Με την κατάχρηση τον φυσικών πόρων ή με τη συνεχή καταστροφή της φύσης κάποια στιγμή στο μέλλον η γη θα μας εγκαταλείψει. Ποια θα είναι όμως η σωτήρια μας; Η επιστήμη ή η πίστη μας; Η ταινία αυτή, που περιμέναμε με τόση ανυπομονησία, ήρθε να δώσει μια εντελώς διαφορετική και -όπως φαίνετε από τον τίτλο της- αναπάντεχη διάσταση σε αυτά τα ερωτήματα.

Λίγα λόγια όμως για την ιστορία της. Στο μέλλον η γη είναι κατεστραμμένη και η φύση εντελώς νεκρή μετά την πτώση ενός μετεωρίτη. Ο μετεωρίτης αυτός όμως περιείχε και κάποια όντα τα οποία άρχισαν να επιτίθονται σε όσους κάτοικους είχαν επιζήσει. Μια ομάδα επιστημόνων έχει βρει τρόπο αντιμετώπισης αυτών των εξωγήινων με έναν παράδοξο τρόπο. Πάντρεψαν την επιστήμη με την πίστη στις υπερφυσικές δυνάμεις. Αυτό όμως τους φέρνει σε σύγκρουση με τους στρατιωτικούς και πολιτικούς παράγοντες οι οποίοι θέλουν να απαλλαγούν όσο το δυνατόν πιο γρήγορα από αυτή την απειλή.
