Ο Τόμπι Λόγκαν είναι ένας 24χρονος νοσηλευτής που έχει ένα μεγάλο μυστικό: μπορεί να διαβάσει τη σκέψη των ανθρώπων. Ο νεαρός δεν γνώρισε ποτέ τους γονείς του και μεγάλωσε στη φροντίδα ανάδοχων οικογενειών. Εξαιτίας του χαρίσματος του ήταν πάντα μοναχικός και φοβισμένος. Μέχρι τώρα, έχει καταφέρει να κρατήσει μυστική την τηλεπαθητική του ικανότητα.

Ο δρ. Ρέι Μέρσερ είναι ο μόνος στον οποίο έχει εξομολογηθεί την αλήθεια και μαζί του ερευνά τις δυνατότητες που έχει. Με τον συνάδελφο του Οζ, διασχίζουν την πόλη του Τορόντο και προσφέρουν τη βοήθεια τους σε όποιον βρίσκεται σε κρίση. Δίνοντας λύση στα προβλήματα των άλλων, ο Τόμπι «θεραπεύει» και τις δικές του ανοιχτές πληγές. Όσο γεμάτη όμως είναι η επαγγελματική του ζωή, τόσο η προσωπική είναι σε κακή κατάσταση. Το καυστικό χιούμορ του Οζ σώζει πολλές φορές τον Τόμπι από κρίσεις κατάθλιψης!

Με τη συνδρομή της ντετέκτιβ Λίζα Μάρκος και της πρώην αγαπημένης του δρ. Ολίβια Φόσετ, ο Τόμπι αντιλαμβάνεται ότι το μοναδικό του χάρισμα μπορεί τελικά να αλλάξει τη ροή των γεγονότων και τη ζωή των ανθρώπων. Ένας βασανισμένος ήρωας, που παλεύει να λύσει εγκλήματα και ιατρικά μυστήρια και ισορροπεί μεταξύ δράματος και χιούμορ.
